Founding Engineer

Upstream Labs is a security research lab focused on Digital Impersonation & Deception — how attackers impersonate trusted brands, services, and identities to manipulate people online. Our first system, Grizzly, is real-time phishing detection for the web.
We're hiring our first engineer. You'll own engineering end to end — from detection systems to the platform they run on — and work directly with the founder on what Grizzly becomes.
Hands-on today, leadership if it works. First engineer, then head of engineering. You set the technical direction.
You might be a fit if you:
- Have built and run production systems that other people depended on — you know what breaks at 3am and you've fixed it
- Care about whether the detection is actually right, not just whether it runs — you'll be in the data, arguing about false positives
- Have good judgment about what to build and what to skip, and can defend it
- Security, anti-abuse, or infrastructure background helps but isn't required
Details: Full-time, New York or remote. Competitive salary plus founding-team equity.
